Glenrio TX / NM (Ghost Town)

Straddling the border between Texas and New Mexico is the forgotten ghost town of Glenrio. Once a monument along highway Route 66, it now remains home to only the critters and the blowing tumble weeds of the vast prairie.

I have posted this ghost town on a previous trip.  It's right off of I-40 at Exit 1 in Texas.  Of all the ghost towns I have seen, this one has the most buildings still standing - but, it's also the youngest.

Vermillion Cliffs (Arizona)

The 3,000-foot escarpment of the Vermilion Cliffs reveals seven major geologic formations in layer-cake fashion. This remote, unspoiled 294,000-acre national monument is a geologic treasure of towering cliffs, deep canyons, and spectacular sandstone formations.  Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, besides all that, it's really, really pretty!

Flagstaff (and Sedona), Arizona

I love Flagstaff, Arizona.  There are so many great outdoor things you can do in the area.  It has beautfiul weather, and nice, friendly people.  This is the little downtown historic area.

This neon sign was in a coffee shop I visited.  They rescued it

from an old motel and it made a nice decoration for their ceiling 

This was a fantastic vegan restaurant I ate at in Flagstaff

called Morning Glory. It was very no-frills, but had delicious food

They had art by local artists for sale in the restaurant. 

This was sooooo good.   A tofu/curry soup.  Fantastic! 

The presentation of the food was beautiful! 

And, a colorful salad with the best tahini dressing. 

And, back to Sedona the next day . . .

. . . for a great sweet potato veggie sandwich . . .

. . . with this magnificent view!

North Rim of the Grand Canyon

This is the first time I have been to the north rim of the Grand Canyon.  It is a much different experience than the south rim.  There are less people, and the look is quite different.   But, nonetheless, it is just as beautiful as the south side.
